retrospect.

I am resisting the urge to shave my head again. My hair is about half an inch in the back already, but i have made this a challenge to myself to grow it out. its' my one new year's resolution, to not fiddle with my hair any more. The pay off will be well worth it if I can be disciplined enough to stay away from a pair of scissors. once it is grown, the final product will be a deathhawk. A beautiful messy towering deathhawk.

Speaking of resolutions, New Years is fast approaching. it is one of the few "holidays" I feel genuine excitement for these days. For a pessemist, I seem to enjoy new beginings quite a lot. I always look forward to being able to start new, and wonder what changes the future will yield (even if it is very few). I've spent the past decade so dissapointed by our current state, that I have done nothing but engulf myself in nostalgia. It seems that is all anyone has done these days. Fashion has not produced many "new" things, rather it has rehashed older trends. This year has seen everything from the flapper to the grunge kid resurface on store racks, like little tokens of appreciation for simpler days long gone.

I find myself day dreaming about how great life was when I was a little kid, Running around town in some acid wash overalls bone thugs playing from ever stereo. If I could live in a little bubble that was forever trapped in the year 1994, i would be content. Just imagine those days...long before ipods and myspace and reality TV. I fuckin' miss those days. I hope that 2010 and the years to follow will be a better place than the frantic post 9-11 world we've been living in. Here's to hoping we remember what the simpler days were like.
